Meeting local needs to drive economic growth
Jaynic is an established private developer with a focus on business spaces and high-quality work environments.
Originally the Jaynic team had identified the potential for their site at Haverhill Research Park to become an innovation centre and approached us to formulate an operating model and investment case for the support of West Suffolk Council and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough combined authority.
Building on the success of the EpiCentre, we were then consulted to help with the next phase of development for the site.
The EpiCentre was originally designed to predominantly cater for businesses that needed traditional office space but shortly after the building opened in 2020 the area saw high demand for laboratory space.
Having been appointed to manage the centre, we worked closely with the Jaynic team to repurpose parts of the building to create five dedicated, and two shared, tissue culture and microbiology labs.
- Fully equipped, fit-for-purpose lab spaces
Lab spaces with valuable assets including hazardous waste disposal, gases, purchasing discounts, and specialist support from a dedicated lab supervisor. - A high-quality science hub close to Cambridge
The out-of-town location provides the perfect combination of proximity to Cambridge without the pitfalls of crowded pedestrian areas, busy city roads, and parking restrictions. - A vibrant space with work and wellbeing at heart
The EpiCentre is light and bright and provides co-working spaces, meeting rooms, and labs for life science biotech companies. It is surrounded by green spaces and for those all-important daily breaks too.
- A collaborative ecosystem for economic growth
The varied work environment now provides space for growth and development for some of the best up-and-coming businesses in Cambridgeshire. - One-to-one business guidance and fundraising support
The EpiCentre customers have benefitted from extensive business support, including companies benefitting from business fundraising. From one-to-one guidance, strategic and financial planning, to networking events and business workshops - the support is endless. - New employment opportunities locally
Many new jobs have been created in the local area since the EpiCentre opened. - Built with the environment in mind
With the project being BREEAM/LEED certified and access to EV Chargers. The centre is also located next to open land, providing centre customers with space to run, walk and just take in the natural environment.
