Oxford Innovation Space shortlisted for national awards

We are delighted to announce that two of our innovation centres have been shortlisted for prestigious national awards at the upcoming United Kingdom Science Park Association (UKSPA) 40th Anniversary Conference.

Future Space, which is located at the University of the West of England in Bristol, has been named as a finalist in the Most Successful Science Park (small) category. Meanwhile, Vulcan Works in Northampton, which we manage on behalf of West Northamptonshire Council, made the final shortlist in the Driving an Interactive Community category (small).

The shortlist recognises Future Space as one of the four most successful small science and innovation locations in the UK. Since opening in 2016, Future Space has created a vibrant environment that is successfully bridging the gap between academia and business. As well as developing the business leaders of tomorrow and bringing pioneering technologies to the world, the centre has made a substantial contribution to the local economy by supporting its customers to create over 500 new jobs and contributing £27.5m in GVA.

A unique haven for artistic, digital and creative businesses, Vulcan Works is nestled in the heart of Northampton’s Cultural Quarter. Part of a one-of-a-kind regeneration project, it has breathed new life into a historic Victorian warehouse, providing dedicated workspace and creating a bustling hub of activity for the community. In fact, footfall monitors in the town centre indicate increased activity to the Cultural Quarter since Vulcan Works opened in February 2023 and it has already established a network of over 189 stakeholders.

The good news doesn’t stop there. One of our business customers CardMedic, which has been supported by our team at the Oxford Centre for Innovation, has also been shortlisted for the Most Innovative Company award.

The UKSPA 40th Anniversary Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of all who have been associated with the Science Park, and the wider innovation ecosystems, movement over the past 40 years. Winners will be announced at the Gala Awards Dinner at the UKSPA 40th Anniversary Conference on the 17th October 2024 at the University of Warwick.
