Oxford Innovation Space opens its first innovation centre outside the UK in partnership with South Dublin County Council

Oxford Innovation Space is now expanding into Ireland with our latest innovation centre – heralding our first venture into Europe. We have signed a contract for our first innovation centre in South Dublin in partnership with South Dublin County Council.

Located in the new Tallaght Innovation Quarter in Dublin, WorkIQ will accommodate up to 60 businesses. The €16 million purpose-built centre will play a vital role in developing start-up businesses and is projected to support the future creation of over 700 jobs worth €80 million to the economy.

Jo Stevens, Managing Director of Oxford Innovation Space, said: “We our delighted to have the opportunity to support South Dublin County Council’s vision for regenerating Tallaght Town Centre. The opening of WorkIQ represents another milestone in the history of Oxford Innovation Space as this is our first centre in Ireland. Being our 32nd centre overall, it further builds on our reputation as a leader in innovation-led regeneration, creating thriving communities of businesses and driving local economic growth.

“Our mission is to create an environment where innovative ideas flourish, and entrepreneurs have the support they need to turn their visions into reality. The pre-mobilisation work we have carried out has already generated strong interest from potential businesses looking to move into the centre.”

WorkIQ is set across four storeys and offers three floors of flexible office accommodation to support local entrepreneurs and businesses. The 2,980m² building also features a public area on the ground floor, which includes a café facing directly onto a stunning new urban plaza.

We were able to advise the local authority and its partners on the design and layout of the new centre to ensure it meets the needs of businesses and its commercial objectives. As well as managing the cutting-edge facility, we will also provide in-house business support services and events as part of its holistic approach to supporting entrepreneurs.

Officially opened by the Mayor of South Dublin, Councillor Alan Edge, and the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, WorkIQ forms an integral part of the new Tallaght Innovation Quarter. Supported by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage through the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund, the Innovation Quarter has transformed the urban landscape of Tallaght, supporting its regeneration and the delivery of the Tallaght Town Centre Local Area Plan.
